Tell us something about yourself.
Gijs:
My name is Gijs Abrahams. I studied Organization Studies at Tilburg University, where I learned how organizations work. Now, as a consultant, I use that knowledge to help businesses overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
Katja: My name is Katja and I live in Breda with my two cats. I have studied Logistics Management and Logistics Engineering at Breda University of Applied Sciences, and am currently finalizing my master in Supply Chain Management at the same institution.

How did you end up at Cegeka?
Gijs:
I was recruited by Steven Meijer to work at Cegeka.
Katja:  I was approached by a recruiter on LinkedIn and really liked the atmosphere of the conversations and the work environment.

What do you do at Cegeka?
Gijs:
I apply my expertise in organizational studies to help clients navigate complex challenges and succeed in their digital transformations.

Did the master prepare you well for this function?
Gijs:
During my master's I learned the different aspects in organizations. During my work in ERP-consultancy we have to cooperate with all departments and aspects of organizations, so therefore it was a perfect fit.
Katja: I still have to finish my masters.

Could you tell us more about the business you are operating in?
Gijs:
We work with Microsoft Dynamics 365 to help clients manage their business processes and streamline their operations.
Katja: The department I work for within Cegeka Business Solutions implements ERP systems for customers. We work together with customers to create a clear overview of their business processes and design the ERP system in a way that suits their needs. Our focus is on medium to large companies that operate mostly in the food and pharma industry.

What does a typical day look like for you?
Gijs:
I always start my day with  a good cup of coffee. Most days I have at least 4 meetings. For example about: planning, progress, budget, steeco, technical perspective, etc.
Each day is different, and as a project manager you have to deal with the most unexpected things. The most important thing is helping your customer with the problems they have.
Katja: During the first weeks of the traineeship a typical day would consist of full days of training. At the moment my days consist of a combination between studying for certificates, writing my thesis and performing other work related tasks.

How would you describe your traineeship?
Gijs:
I did not start with a traineeship.
Katja: Fun, professional, and very valuable. I learned a lot, not only about hard skills (like the ERP system) but also about soft skills.

Can you describe some projects you are working on at the moment?
Gijs:
I am currently assigned to work on three different projects simultaneously. The first project involved helping a shipping company improve its supply chain management and reduce costs, while the second project focused on how to streamline its operations and improve its profitability for a fruit farming business. The third project involved advising a real estate company developing their CRM system. My task during these three projects is project management, so check scope, budget, scheduling and resourcing.
Katja: My first project will start in March, so unfortunately I cannot share any project experiences yet.

How is the work culture at Cegeka?
Gijs:
Our company culture is warm and familial, with a focus on collaboration, respect, and open communication. We value our team members and strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
Katja: There is a very professional work culture at Cegeka, in which working hard is appreciated. It is however also a very friendly and supportive environment where personal connection is valued.

What do you think your future looks like at Cegeka?
Gijs:
Working another few years as a project manager and helping our customers with their ERP implementation process.
Katja: There are so many opportunities at Cegeka that I'm not sure yet what my future looks like. I would like to experience a few different projects and roles before I commit to one career path.

Do you have any advice for current students?
Gijs:
First of all, finish your masters. After that you have enough choices, so follow your heart and think about your long term plan.
Katja: "Life is about the journey, not the destination" - So make sure you enjoy what you do!
